Elmore Leonard

Elmore John Leonard, Jr. (born in October 11, 1925 – died in August 20, 2013) was a novelist and also a screenwriter. His early novels, that were published in the period of 1950s, were all Westerns books, but then Leonard went on to write about crime fiction and also suspense thrillers, in which many of them have been made into movies. Some of his best-known works are "Get Shorty", "Out of Sight", "Hombre, Mr. Majestyk", and also the "Rum Punch".

He got his start in the fiction market during the 1950s. He was then publishing Western novels. He had his first success in 1951 when Argosy published his short story "Trail of the Apaches". During the 1950s and also the early 1960s, he still continued writing Westerns, publishing about 30 short stories. He wrote his first novel, "The Bounty Hunters", in the year 1953 and followed with four other novels. About five of his westerns were turned into movies before 1972: The Tall T, 3:10 to Yuma, Hombre, Valdez Is Coming, and Joe Kidd.

He then went on to write about 17 novels and also some stories in the mystery, crime, and more topical genres which were later made into movies between the year 1969 and 2013. In the year 1985, his successful novel, "Glitz" was published. At the time of his death he had sold about tens of millions of copies of his novels. Among his later movies are Jackie Brown which is a "respect" to the author’s signature rhythm and steps"; Get Shorty and Out of Sight.
