Google Celebrates Leo Tolstoy's Birthday
Google celebrates the famous Russian Writer Leo Tolstoy's 186th birthday by creating an animated doodle in his honour. Tolstoy was born on 9 September 1828 and died from pneumonia at Astapovo train station at the age of 82 in 1910.

The animated doodle is in the format of a sideshow with images taken from his various novels that gave him worldwide recognition and features a few background picture story of it too. The slideshow doodle begins with an image of Tolstoy writing at his desk by a dimly burning candlelight at the start of the animation After that it presents some scenes from his most famous works, including War and Peace, Anna Karenina and The Death of Ivan Ilyich.

Tolstoy's epic masterpiece War and Peace is one of the most widely well known novels in the world and considered as one of the most important works of literature. Tolstoy’s other great novel, Anna Karenina, follows the tragic life of married socialite Anna and her affair with the wealthy Count Vronsky. His other notable works include: The Resurrection,Master and Man, Family Happiness, A confession along with a variety of short stories, plays and essays.
